Our Story
Kakuma Child Future Hub (KCFH) is a registered non-profit, non-political Community-Based Organisation (CBO) operating in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Turkana West Sub-County, Turkana County, Kenya. We were founded on the belief that every child — regardless of their background, nationality, or ability — deserves protection, education, and the opportunity to build a better future.
Kakuma Refugee Camp is home to hundreds of thousands of displaced people from multiple countries. The challenges facing children here are immense: limited access to education, risk of exploitation and abuse, barriers for children with disabilities, and tensions between refugee and host communities. KCFH was established to address these challenges through community-driven, sustainable programmes that put children at the centre.
What We Do
Our work spans six core programme areas: Education Support, Child Safeguarding, Disability Inclusion, Peacebuilding & Social Cohesion, Community Engagement, and Resource Mobilisation & Partnerships. We work directly with children, families, community leaders, and volunteers — both within the refugee camp and the surrounding host community — to deliver programmes that are responsive to local needs and grounded in our core values.
We believe that lasting change comes from within communities. That is why we invest in building local capacity, training volunteers, supporting community-led initiatives, and creating platforms for community voices to be heard. Our approach is inclusive, participatory, and respectful of the dignity and agency of every person we work with.
