Kakuma Child Future Hub conducted a Disability Inclusion Awareness Campaign across Kakuma Refugee Camp, visiting five schools and three community centres to promote the rights, dignity, and inclusion of children and persons with disabilities.
The campaign included interactive sessions on understanding different types of disabilities, challenging stigma and misconceptions, and practical steps communities can take to be more inclusive. We also distributed information materials in multiple languages spoken in the camp.
At one school, a teacher remarked: 'This campaign has changed how I think about including children with disabilities in my classroom. I now see their potential, not their limitations.'
KCFH believes that inclusion is not a favour but a right. Every child — regardless of ability — deserves to learn, play, and participate fully in community life. We will continue to advocate for accessible services and inclusive programmes in Kakuma.
