Kakuma Child Future Hub is proud to announce the launch of its Community Child Safeguarding Programme in Kakuma 3, Zone 1. This initiative establishes community-based safeguarding committees made up of trained local volunteers who are equipped to identify, report, and respond to child protection concerns.
The programme began with a three-day training workshop that brought together 25 community volunteers from both refugee and host communities. Participants learned about children's rights, signs of abuse and neglect, safe reporting procedures, and how to support children and families in crisis.
Our approach is rooted in the belief that communities themselves are the first line of protection for children. By building local capacity, we ensure that child safeguarding is not just an external service but a community-owned responsibility.
Over the coming months, we plan to expand the programme to additional zones within Kakuma, with the goal of establishing safeguarding committees in every block we serve. We invite partners and supporters to join us in this critical work.
