Kakuma Child Future Hub hosted a Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion Dialogue Forum that brought together over 100 community members from both refugee and host communities in Turkana West.
The forum provided a safe space for open dialogue about shared challenges, mutual concerns, and opportunities for collaboration. Participants engaged in group discussions, shared meals together, and worked on joint action plans for community projects.
Key outcomes from the forum included commitments to establish a joint community committee, organise regular inter-community sports events, and develop shared water and sanitation initiatives.
'When we sit together and talk, we realise we have more in common than we thought,' said one participant. 'Our children play together. We want the same things for them — safety, education, and a good future.'
KCFH will continue to facilitate these dialogues as part of our peacebuilding programme, recognising that lasting peace is built through relationships, understanding, and shared purpose.
